St Aloysius' College is seeking applications from engaging and inspiring English teachers for a full-time ongoing position, commencing in 2026.

Established in 1879, St Aloysius' College is a Catholic, Jesuit day school for boys from Year 3 to Year 12. Situated in the shadow of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, it has an enrolment of over 1300 students.

The College is conducted by the Society of Jesus and is part of a worldwide network of Jesuit primary and secondary schools and universities.

About the Role

English Teacher

St Aloysius’ College is seeking to appoint a passionate and suitably qualified English Teacher to join our outstanding English faculty on a full-time ongoing basis from 2026.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong subject knowledge, and a willingness to integrate innovative pedagogy and contemporary classroom teaching practice that both supports and challenges students. The successful candidate would also possess a strong commitment to academic teacher excellence, embracing a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.

Demonstrating capacity to teach Standard and Advanced English, this role presents a great opportunity for a recent graduate or a highly experienced educator with a commitment for continuous professional growth, seeking to foster and contribute to the performance and achievement of educational outcomes. Experience teaching English Extension 1 and 2 is desirable, though not essential.

Reporting to the Head of English, the successful candidate will support curriculum development, coordinate departmental activities, assist in the administration of assessments, work collaboratively with faculty members to enhance student learning outcomes and contribute to the overall academic and pastoral care of students.

Your Application

To be considered for this position, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate:

  • Commitment to the Catholic Education of boys in the Jesuit Tradition;
  • Appropriate Secondary teaching qualifications, specifically English and eligibility to teach under the requirements of NESA, NSW legislation and College policy;
  • Capacity to teach English across all Year levels, 7-12;
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with teachers in the development, implementation and evaluation of NESA based programs;
  • Proven ability to facilitate a warm, engaging and high-quality learning environment that meets the academic, social and emotional needs of all students;
  • High level of interpersonal and communication skills in dealing with staff, students, parents and the broader College community;
  • Excellent ICT skills and the ability to integrate technology into learning programs to improve educational outcomes;
  • Commitment to academic excellence;
  • Possess a valid Working with Children Check;
  • Strong commitment to child safeguarding principles.
