Lauriston Girls’ Schoolis a forward thinking, independent K-12 School.
Lauriston Girls’ School is seeking passionate and experienced Outdoor Program Instructors to join our team at the Howqua Campus. This unique residential program for Year 9 students focuses on personal growth, community building, and connection with the natural world through a diverse range of outdoor activities.
As an Instructor, you will co-lead groups in activities such as bushwalking, camping, rock climbing, abseiling, canoeing, skiing, and initiative exercises. You’ll work collaboratively with teaching staff to deliver an educational program that challenges and inspires students, while ensuring safety and wellbeing in wilderness and alpine environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver technical instruction and educational outcomes across outdoor activities.
- Manage risk and ensure adherence to safety standards and procedures.
- Support students’ physical, social, and emotional development.
- Maintain and prepare equipment and assist with Outdoor Centre operations.
- Promote environmental stewardship and minimal impact principles.
Mandatory Requirements
- Certificate IV/Diploma in Outdoor Recreation or Leadership (or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in bushwalking, camping, canoeing, climbing, and group facilitation.
- Experience in cross-country skiing and alpine camping skills.
- Current Wilderness First Aid, CPR, Anaphylaxis & Asthma certifications.
- Current Working with Children Check and Manual Driver’s Licence.
Desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field.
- Light Rigid Licence, 4WD and trailer towing experience.
- Downhill skiing skills.
