Job Description
Alphington Grammar School is a small, independent, co-educational School catering for students in ELC to Year 12.
The School is seeking exceptional teachers to join the talented team of music professionals in its thriving Music Department. 2026 Positions Available
Piano Teacher
- one day per week of private instrumental tuition
- accompanying opportunities
Voice Teacher
- one day per week of private instrumental tuition, approx.
- potential for Ensemble direction
Brass Teacher
- one half day per week of private instrumental tuition, approx.
- potential for Ensemble direction
- opportunity to develop and grow the Brass program
These roles are casual positions and term-time only.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high quality instrumental tuition to individual students, across a variety of levels and age-groups;
- Foster the musicality, technical development and disciplined practice habits of students;
- Prepare students for performances, ensemble participation, and ongoing progression in the Music Program;
- Support the Music Department by attending the Annual Music Concert and semesterly Soloist Evenings;
- Build positive and professional relationships with students, families and colleagues;
- Prepare students for external exams, as required, and
- Respond to parent queries, communicate lesson timetables and keep up to date with school activities on a weekly basis.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Applicants for the voice and piano positions with strong accompanying skills will be highly regarded.
- Applicants for the brass position with the ability to teach trumpet, horn and trombone will be highly regarded.
- The ability to teach across a variety of musical styles will be highly regarded.
What you will bring:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Music or Music Education;
- Demonstrated proficiency on your instrument;
- Strong communication skills, a professional approach and positive team attitude;
- Preparedness to work within the School timetable, and
- A current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain one.
