This talent register is open for applications within the next 12 months. It allows you to register your interest for casual and fixed term contracts up to six (6) months, full-time or part-time for a range of key positions across the Education Business Services Division.

We are seeking staff to support the delivery of the WA Student Assistance Payment. This WA Government cost-of-living initiative provides a one-off payment to eligible school students across WA to assist families with their children's schooling.

The Roles

This initiative encompasses various public servant positions between levels 3 to 7. These positions will provide essential operational support in areas such as customer service and support, call centre management, data entry and validation, complaint resolution and quality assurance.

Senior roles will be responsible for overseeing operations, providing leadership as team leaders and coordinators, and ensuring effective delivery of services across the initiative.

  • Level 4: School Helpline Operator
  • Level 5: Customer Service and Data Centre Team Leader
  • Level 5: Exceptions and Exclusions Supervisor
  • Level 6: Customer Service and Data Centre Coordinator
  • Level 7: Principal Consultant – School Helpline Coordinator

Customer Service and Data Centre Roles (Level 3)

Customer Service and Data Centre staff will be responsible for managing a high volume of incoming enquiries, particularly from members of the public, and/or a high volume of data processing of incoming claims.

Strong customer service skills are essential for roles which focus on support to claimants. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the ability to respond to queries in a professional, positive, and empathetic manner while following established processes and maintaining confidentiality at all times. These roles are based in East Perth.

Strong data processing skills are essential for roles which focus on support for claims processing. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate a high degree of keyboard data entry capability and attention to detail, and ability to follow established processes while maintaining confidentiality at all times. These roles are based in East Perth, but some are based in Cannington.

Team Leaders and Coordinators (Levels 5 and 6)

Team Leaders and Coordinators will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Customer Service and Data Centre teams. They will manage escalated and complex enquiries, provide guidance and support to staff, and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality customer service.

A focus of the Team Leader and Coordinator roles is to provide management and leadership to staff responsible for support to claimants, and data processing. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate experience leading teams of staff in a fast-paced environment, ensuring quality service delivery and confidentiality.

Helpline Operator (Level 4) and Exceptions Officer (Level 4)

These positions contribute to responding to school enquiries, administering project processes, and following up on information if needed to complete claim processing. Successful applicants will have strong customer service skills, and strong attention to detail. Successful applicants will be able to follow procedures, maintain confidentiality at all times, and contribute to claim processing, including support for the assessment and review of applications when needed.

Principal Consultant (Level 7)

The Principal Consultant will provide high-level advice on school enquiries, dispute resolution, and complex project processes. They will lead the preparation and evaluation of briefing papers and correspondence related to the initiative, and deliver strategic, specialist support to the Program Manager/Director.

Conditions of Employment

The above positions are expected to commence from 6 July 2026.

Rostered shifts will be scheduled within standard business hours, between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday.

These roles are primarily based at the Department of Education Central Office in East Perth. Select positions may also be located at the School Curriculum and Standards Authority office in Cannington. Due to the confidential nature of this initiative and security requirements, flexible working arrangements are not available.

Please note that for certain positions, there are strict security requirements. If appointed to one of these roles, you will not be permitted to bring electronic devices into designated work areas. This includes any device capable of capturing images or transmitting information, such as mobile phones, smart watches, or similar devices.

These requirements apply only to specific roles within this talent register and will be discussed further with you should you be successful in your application.

Eligibility

Successful applicants will be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
