East Kenwick Primary School (PS) has been part of the Kenwick community for over 35 years. The school has a steady enrolment of around 400 students drawn from a diverse range of cultural backgrounds. We have approximately 15 percent Indigenous enrolment and 48 percent English as a Second Language we celebrate our cultural diversity and the experiences that each family brings to our school.
The school has an annual transiency rate of approximately 25%, reinforcing the importance of consistent whole-school practices that support student learning, wellbeing and successful transitions.

The Role
The Deputy Principal is a key member of the school's leadership team, working collaboratively to provide strategic leadership that fosters a positive, inclusive and high performing school culture. This role is integral to shaping the identity of the school by actively promoting its values, vision and strategic priorities while building strong relationships with staff, students, families and the wider community.
The successful applicant will display a strong commitment to building and sustaining a positive staff culture where collaboration, trust, wellbeing and high expectations underpin professional practice. They will ideally be an instructional leader who supports staff to continuously improve their practice through coaching, collaboration, professional learning and evidence-informed decision making. The successful applicant will ideally promote connected whole-school practices, ensuring staff work collaboratively to deliver high quality outcomes for every student.
The successful applicant will ideally possess a sound understanding of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and display the ability to implement a cohesive, whole-school approach that integrates academic achievement, positive engagement and student wellbeing. Experience in developing and leading tiered systems that use data to inform decision making, target interventions and monitor student progress across all domains will be highly regarded.
A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice is desirable. The Deputy Principal will support the implementation of evidence-informed approaches that promote safe, predictable and inclusive learning environments, enabling every student to feel connected, supported and ready to learn. They should work collaboratively with staff to build collective capability in responding to the diverse learning, behavioural and wellbeing needs of students. Experience in leading Student Services will be viewed favourably.
The Deputy Principal plays a significant role in the effective operation of the school through strategic planning, policy development and the establishment of systems that align with the School Business Plan. They provide leadership in school operations, support the management of staff and student wellbeing, and may oversee responsibilities such as timetabling and other operational priorities.
Knowledge of, or experience in, Early Childhood Education will be desirable, particularly the ability to support high-quality teaching and learning practices that establish strong foundations for student success.
Overall, the Deputy Principal is an influential educational leader who inspires excellence, builds leadership capacity across the school and contributes to a positive culture where every student and staff member is known, valued and supported to achieve success.
