Teacher - Education Support

We are seeking to establish a pool of highly effective Education Support Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2027 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

As a new school opening in February 2027, this is a unique opportunity to join a foundation staff and contribute to the development of a positive, inclusive and high-performing school culture from day one.

Banksia Grove West Primary School has been designed as a contemporary Kindergarten to Year 6 school comprising three connected settings: Early Childhood, Primary and an Endorsed Education Support Program. The school is currently progressing through a formal naming process and is anticipated to open under a Noongar name that reflects the history, culture and significance of the land on which the school is located.

Find out more about our school by visiting Facebook – Banksia Grove West Primary School and Schools Online. Please also refer to the Our Story, Our Vision, Our Future: Foundation Teacher Information Guide.

The Role

Suitable applicants will ideally be committed to building a school culture founded on belonging, inclusion, consistency, care and high expectations.

We are seeking educators who ideally display:

  • a commitment to implementing whole-school approaches with fidelity;
  • an understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and trauma-informed practices;
  • the ability to create safe, engaging and accountable learning environments through the implementation of Classroom Management Strategies and Instructional Strategies for Engagement;
  • a commitment to collaboration, teamwork and ongoing professional learning;
  • a learner mindset characterised by reflection, coaching and continuous improvement;
  • a commitment to supporting students with diverse learning, behavioural, social-emotional and cultural needs;
  • the ability to use data to inform teaching practice and improve student outcomes;
  • strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families and colleagues; and
  • a willingness to contribute to the establishment of systems, structures and practices within a foundation school context.

As Education Support Teachers, suitable applicants would be responsible for teaching a classroom within the school’s Endorsed Education Support Program. The program will support students with diagnosed disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability and Physical Disability, as well as students with complex and diverse learning, communication, social-emotional and behavioural needs.

Suitable applicants will ideally show a commitment to evidence-based inclusive practices and pedagogies and understand the importance of creating highly individualised learning programs that maximise student engagement, independence, participation and achievement. Experience supporting students with complex communication needs, including the use of augmentative and alternative communication systems, is highly desirable.

Education Support Teachers will ideally work collaboratively with families, therapists, external agencies and school staff to develop and implement personalised programs that respond to individual student strengths and needs. Applicants should ideally have experience developing, implementing and monitoring documented plans such as Individual Education Plans (IEPs), Individual Behaviour Management Plans (IBMPs) and other personalised support plans.

The desired applicants will ideally have the ability to lead, support and effectively manage a team of Education Assistants. This includes establishing clear expectations, building team capability and fostering a collaborative classroom culture focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for students.

Foundation schools are dynamic environments requiring flexibility, initiative and adaptability. Suitable applicants will ideally have the capacity to respond positively to changing circumstances while maintaining a strong focus on student wellbeing, engagement and achievement. In the context of a new school and growing population, suitable applicants will ideally possess professional flexibility and the ability to anticipate and adapt to changing circumstances.

If you are passionate about inclusion and committed to ensuring every student can access meaningful learning opportunities, experience success and develop a strong sense of belonging, we encourage you to apply.
