The Role
Perth Modern School is seeking an experienced and professional Human Resources (HR) Officer to provide high-level support to the Principal and Executive Team in delivering human resource services and operations across the school. The successful applicant will ideally display excellent organisational skills, sound judgement, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and confidential environment. This role requires an early start, with working hours commencing at 7:00am.
The Human Resources Officer plays a key role in ensuring that all HR functions operate efficiently and in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and legislative requirements. Key responsibilities may include managing relief staffing; administering payroll in the Human Resource Management Information System (HRMIS); supporting staff induction processes; and coordinating examination rosters, venues and supervisors. The role also involves providing accurate and timely HR advice to staff and contributing to the continuous improvement of HR systems and practices across the school.
The successful applicant will ideally display a strong understanding of workforce planning and contemporary human resource management practices within a public sector environment. They should have the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships at all levels of the organisation, supported by well-developed communication and interpersonal skills. A solutions-focused and analytical approach to problem-solving is highly desirable, along with the ability to plan, prioritise, and manage competing demands while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity at all times.
Experience with SIS Integris (Cover and Timetabling), HRMIS, Compass / Program Kaartdijin, Microsoft 365 and school ICT systems will be highly desirable. Previous experience in a school or education-based HR environment will be highly regarded.
