Veritas Education is currently recruiting for a committed and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to support students within a Secondary SEMH School in the Croydon area. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about making a positive difference to young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.

About the School

• Specialist Secondary SEMH provision
• Nurture‑led and trauma‑informed approach
• Small class sizes with high staff‑to‑student ratios
• Strong focus on emotional regulation, engagement and positive behaviour

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
• Support emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
• Assist students to engage with learning and classroom routines
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral teams
• Build consistent, positive and trusting relationships with students
• Support students during transitions and unstructured times

Skills & Experience Required

• Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND or challenging behaviour
• Calm, patient and resilient approach
• Confident supporting and de‑escalating challenging behaviour
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team
• Background in education, care, youth work or similar is highly desirable
• A strong commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
