Dorking, Surrey Full Time | Long Term | Temp to Perm £90-£117 per day (dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are currently working with a specialist SEMH school in Dorking to recruit a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA).

This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, helping them re-engage with education and develop the skills they need to succeed both in school and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
• Assist in managing challenging behaviour in a calm and professional manner
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students
• Support emotional regulation using structured and consistent approaches
• Work alongside the teacher to deliver engaging and accessible lessons
• Implement support strategies in line with EHCP targets
• Help maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Experience working with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour
• Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
• A calm, patient, and resilient personality
• Ability to build rapport quickly with vulnerable learners
• Background in education, youth work, support work, or care (desirable)
• Understanding of trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches (advantageous)
