Founded in 1955, Mount Lawley Senior High School (SHS) is located 5 kilometres from the Perth CBD. It comprises three sub-schools; Years 7 and 8, Years 9 and 10 and Years 11 and 12. It hosts a Gifted and Talented Languages program, a Specialist Visual and Performing Arts program, a Music program and the innovative Aboriginal Excellence Program. The school offers a breadth of curriculum choices and has a rich history of student success and achievement.

The Role

Mount Lawley SHS is seeking a dedicated and innovative individual to join their Leadership Team in the role of Program Coordinator - Inclusive Education.

The successful applicant would promote and support inclusive practices within Mount Lawley SHS and will help create an environment where all students are able to reach their potential. A key component of this role is to lead special educational needs staff and develop processes to enable staff to provide exemplary service and support to students with disabilities and special educational needs.

This is a strategic position that requires the successful applicant to ideally possess the ability to critically reflect upon, review and refine school practices; and to work with the Executive team to focus on improving pedagogy and engagement.

As the successful applicant, you will ideally be able to facilitate professional knowledge, interagency links and parent participation adhering to NCCD processes to enhance positive educational outcomes for students with learning disabilities and difficulties.

As the successful applicant you would ideally have highly effective communication skills, and depth of understanding for assessment practices to support staff and ensure there is a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students, focusing on the development of students.

You will ideally embrace a personal commitment to the values of the school: excellence, respect, perseverance and learning. Additionally, you should embrace the school’s Pedagogical Framework (attached) and the associated program of improving teaching, including peer observation. They should work collaboratively with their peers and within their various teams as part of a professional learning community.
