One application offers you a range of opportunities. By submitting your application, you can be considered for permanent graduate school psychologist vacancies in public schools in both metropolitan and regional areas. When completing your online application, you will be asked to nominate the regions in which you are interested in working.

Your application can only be submitted online. Emailed and hard copy applications are not accepted.

In applying to this permanent graduate job advertisement, your application will be replicated into the School Psychologist Employment Register for consideration for Fixed Term vacancies and Temporary vacancies due to backfill.

  • a comprehensive, up-to-date CV;
  • identification (i.e. birth certificate, passport, change of name documentation – marriage certificate). Please note we do not accept driver’s licences.
  • evidence of your eligibility to work in Australia. You can be appointed to a permanent graduate school psychologist position where you have:

  • evidence of your current registration with the Psychology Board of Australia:
    • If you are eligible for registration but not currently registered, you will need to provide evidence of your eligibility for registration (e.g. enrolment in the Master of Professional Psychology or higher degree program, or correspondence from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency confirming your eligibility for registration as a psychologist in Australia);

    • current enrolment/course completion or conferral date

You will also be asked to provide details of two professional referees – one of which should be your current or most recent line manager where possible. You can also ask your mentor from any practical experiences you have had during your study to be your referee.

The selection process

Your application will be considered in two stages.

Stage 1: eligibility check

In stage 1, we will confirm your:

  • identity
  • eligibility to work in Australia
  • qualifications
  • Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia (either current, or ability to hold Registration at the time of graduation and commencement of employment)

We will confirm this with you once it has been completed. Confirmation of completion of stage 1 should not be interpreted as a guarantee of employment as a graduate school psychologist.

Stage 2: suitability assessment

Once we have confirmed your eligibility, Lead school psychologists and/or principals may contact you in relation to graduate school psychologist opportunities in their regional/school, as they arise.

Before offering you employment as a graduate school psychologist, the lead school psychologist or principal will consider your suitability for an identified vacancy at their region/school.

Lead School Psychologists and principals will then undertake an assessment of suitability in relation to the job requirements. To do this they may:

  • review your application, including your CV and any other attachments you have provided
  • invite you to attend an interview
  • contact your referees

You may or may not be contacted about a vacancy.

Where you are offered a contract of employment, this is subject to you meeting eligibility requirements prior to commencing employment. These include:
