Why this Role?
Responsibilities include:
- Provide strategic leadership, management, and legal advice to a team handling legislative and court ordered requests for information and amendments to personal information, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Exercise delegated authority under the Education (General Provisions) Act 2006 (EGP Act), RTI Act, FOI Act and other legislation for decisions on access to documents and amendment of personal information, including under the direction of the Minister for official documents of the Minister.
- Deliver timely, strategic and expert legal advice, to departmental staff on the application of legislation, including the EGP Act, RTI Act, Information Privacy Act 2009 (IP Act), FOI Act, and public law issues, particularly about confidentiality, privacy, and related statutory decision-making; and appear and represent the department in any legal proceedings about the release of departmental information.
- Lead and manage the processing of requests for departmental information, responses to external reviews, and conduct internal reviews under the RTI Act and FOI Act.

A mandatory requirement of this role is
- Admission as a legal practitioner, barrister or solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and entered on the Register of Practitioners kept in the High Court of Australia.
