Our School:

Tully State School is situated in the town of Tully in Far North Queensland. It is a scenic 2-hour drive to the south of Cairns. It is located at the foothills of Mt. Tyson. Sugar cane and bananas are the dominant crops grown. At Tully State School, there are presently 284 students enrolled from P-6 with 55 teaching and ancillary staff. Our school motto is ‘Work Well and Succeed”.

The role includes a 0.6 Teaching Fraction

Provide leadership and guidance for the implementation of innovative measures aimed at improving student learning outcomes and engagement in school, ensuring quality learning outcomes for all students.

Establish and teach a Flexible Class in our school:

Rationale: A flexible class within our school will provide a dynamic, student-centred learning environment that responds to the diverse needs of our learners. By allowing for personalised instruction, adaptable groupings, and varied teaching approaches, this model will foster engagement, inclusion, and wellbeing for all students, including those who may not thrive in traditional settings.

It will also equip children with essential 21st-century skills such as collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving, ensuring they are prepared for future learning and life. By adapting to each learner's needs, a flexible class aims to ensure every child feels valued, engaged, and capable of success.

This approach aligns with our commitment to equity, excellence, and the holistic development of every child.

Coordinate and provide targeted support for students identified for the flexible class – up to 2 hours per day, to a maximum of 10 students

Mentor and upskill classroom teachers in inclusive practices, differentiated instruction, trauma-aware approaches and behaviour support strategies.

Lead and integrate all student-facing support services.

Communicate and work with leadership, parents, staff, and outside organisations to develop strategies to improve learning outcomes, student achievement and engagement.

  • The ability to develop, lead, and evaluate engagement strategies that strengthen connection, engagement, and learning outcomes.
