Sophia College is a Catholic secondary school located in the Lockyer Valley, approximately 80kms west of Brisbane. The College opened in January 2021 and continues to grow enrolling a new cohort of students each year. Sophia College is seeking a dedicated Grounds Service Officer to support the maintenance and presentation of our facilities and grounds. Working three days per week, you will become a valued member of a vibrant and supportive college community.
- Location: Sophia College - Plainland (S)
- Start date: Commencing early March 2026
- Work hours: 22.50 hours per week (3 days/week)
- Salary: School Services Officer Level 2 - $32.50/hour + super
- Status: Term Time Continuing | School holidays are unpaid

About the opportunity
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Assisting in the maintenance of playing surfaces, including setting up of greens, top dressing, fertilising under supervision, seeding, turfing, coring, and sprigging
- Assisting in the preparation of ovals for sporting events and carnivals
- Safely operate and maintain small machinery and plant, as required, considering the risk to self and others
- Assisting in the equipment and plant maintenance repairs including carrying out tasks allotted under the grounds and gardens maintenance plan
- Assisting in the ordering and purchase of materials.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Knowledge of maintaining playing surfaces, including fertilising, seeding, and turfing
- Ability to assist in preparing ovals for sporting events and carnivals
- Skilled in safely operating and maintaining small machinery, ensuring safety for all
- Experience in equipment and plant maintenance, following the grounds maintenance plan
- Ability to assist in ordering and purchasing materials for maintenance tasks
- Relevant tertiary qualifications at Certificate III level, or completion of an apprenticeship
- For this position you are not required to be Catholic.
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
