Position Information

HSPA is a community school in Newcastle-Muloobinba and offers a comprehensive curriculum with a performing arts specialty. As the only fully selective performing arts public school in NSW, students from across the Hunter, Central Coast and Port Stephens are enrolled through an audition process. HSPA has a creative and inclusive learning environment where excellence is nurtured to enable all students to perform at their best. The quality learning environment promotes and develops future focused and cultural learning in conjunction with high expectations of academic excellence. In 2025, 1084 students are enrolled across Years 3 to 12 including 65 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The school caters for a wide range of student abilities, with a strong emphasis on the performing arts and developing high potential of students in dance, music and drama. In addition, we have high expectations of academic success.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Mathematics 7-10, Mathematics 11-12 and Mathematics Extensions 1 & 2.

Demonstrated ability to create innovative and engaging programs that implement the new Mathematics syllabuses and incorporate future focused pedagogies, leading to improved learning outcomes for all students.

Highly developed interpersonal skills with a proven ability to collaborate with expert teachers and lead groups within the faculty.

Demonstrated capacity to differentiate curriculum and assessment opportunities, particularly to meet the learning needs of HP&G performing arts students.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
