Position Information

Melonba Public School is a brand new school located in the South Creek Network. The school is located in Melonba in the north-west growth corridor of Sydney which has a high proportion of EAL/D students. The school is situated in a diverse and multicultural community. It serves a range of students, including those with complex and challenging needs. Student enrolments are expected to increase significantly in the first five years of operation as the surrounding area undergoes extensive development.

The school has capacity for up to 1000 students. Melonba Public School will include three support classes for students with disabilities and additional learning needs with the first support class opening in 2026. Planning is underway for a preschool opening in 2027. The school is located at Swallowtail Street, Melonba, alongside the new Melonba High School.

General Selection Criteria

  • Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  • Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  • Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  • Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Specific Selection Criteria

  • In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary with proven ability to lead cohesive teams with high levels of relational trust and emotional intelligence to deliver effective curriculum implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the complexity of the role meeting the needs of all students equitably.
  • Foster and sustain an inclusive school culture to build collaborative relationships with students, staff and parents within a diverse learning community.
  • Proven ability as a leader and co-learner to improve professional knowledge and collaborative practice, engaging, inspiring and motivating others.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
