Teacher - Health and Physical Education

The Role

Teachers in the Health and Physical Education (HPE) team are focused on creating outstanding outcomes for students and empowering every learner. We are a collaborative, supportive and close-knit team in a way that only a high-quality regional school can be. Our practice is data-driven to ensure improvement for our students.

The successful applicant should strive for excellence in Health, Physical and Outdoor Education teaching and demonstrate a desire to deliver a range of courses across Year 7-12. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessing, Fitness qualifications and/or Outdoor Education qualifications are highly regarded. The Health and Physical Education learning area leads a range of whole school extracurricular opportunities for students, that the successful applicant will collaborate with members of the team to facilitate.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Hedland SHS in 2026 are eligible to receive an Attraction and Retention Incentive of $4 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

• hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
• be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. More information about employment eligibility can be found on our website.
• apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
