THE ROLE
The Science Teacher at Trinity Anglican College is a passionate and proficient educator with the ability to teacher across Years 7-10 Science and Stage 6 Science courses.
Teachers are responsible for providing quality content and continuity of learning experiences for students; the delivery of best quality programs, teaching and learning activities and the achievement of student outcomes for all students within the subject area.
A love of teaching and learning, initiative, an optimistic outlook, great organisational skills, excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to professional learning are all pre-requisites for the position.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
The key responsibilities of the role include (but are not limited to):
- Teaching Science curriculum including 7-10 Science and Stage 6 Science courses.
- Plan and implement coherent, well sequenced teaching and learning programs that engage students and maximise learning.
- Use a range of teaching strategies to deliver quality teaching programs that are responsive to the learning strengths and needs of students.
- Develop, select, and use informal and formal, formative and summative assessment strategies to assess student learning.
- Prepare and deliver timely and targeted feedback and reports to students and parents.
Support the College Code of Conduct and Behaviour Management program:
- Apply a care-based, restorative and solution-focused approach to managing student issues in consultation with parents as appropriate.
- Keep the Head of House informed of significant student issues.
- Be alert to, and act upon, instances endangering student safety.
- Being punctual and diligent in classroom, playground and other supervisory duties.
- Being courteous, firm, consistent and fair in dealings with students.
- Responding appropriately to breaches of the College’s behaviour management and uniform policies.
Pastoral Care Program:
- Actively participate in College pastoral care and well-being programs, including being a House Mentor.
- Attend one College camp during the year, involving at least two nights away.
- Lead and support students’ academic, pastoral and spiritual needs in the roles of classroom teacher and House Mentor.
Other duties of all teachers:
- Actively participate in the College Cocurricular Program.
- Carry our supervisory duties as required and rostered.
- Participate in department meetings, school meetings and College briefings, some of which may occur outside normal school hours.
- Participate in school functions including Chapels, Assemblies, and Parent-Student-Teacher Evenings.
- Model exemplary behaviour reflective of the values and ethos of the College.
- Any other duties as determined by the Principal.
SKILLS
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong interpersonal skills and experience in maintaining cooperative partnerships within an organisation.
- Skilled in negotiating conflicting interests to ensure a positive outcome.
- Be a team player with experience working within a team and independently.
- Well-organised and committed.
- Creative and energetic.
EXPERIENCE
- Teaching experience with a specialisation in Science.
- Experience teaching to a wide variety of year groups, including Stage 6.
- Experience in a faith-based school setting and a willingness to support and contribute to the Anglican ethos and values of Trinity Anglican College.
- Attendance at appropriate professional development activities relating to teaching.
- Experience and knowledge of current practices in science education and trends.
- Awareness of NESA syllabus documents.
REMUNERATION
Terms and Conditions of employment will be in accordance with the ‘Anglican Schools Commission Inc. NSW Enterprise Agreement 2023*’*. Remuneration will be determined by the Principal according to qualifications and experience.
