Job Description
ELTHAM College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Chinese Teacher to join our LOTE Team for a fixed-term position covering Long Service Leave during Semester 1, 2026. This part-time role (0.6 FTE). involves teaching Chinese from Years 7–10, with the ability to teach VCE Chinese Units 1/2 highly desirable.

About the Role
- Teach Chinese language and culture in an engaging, contemporary and student-centred manner
- Develop and deliver inclusive learning programs aligned with the Victorian Curriculum and, if applicable, VCE Study Design
- Nurture a positive learning environment where students feel safe, valued and empowered to explore new ideas
- Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and contribute to the LOTE program across the College
- Participate in College community life, including relevant events, learning experiences and community activities
About you
- Qualified Teacher with current VIT registration
- Experience teaching Chinese to Years 7–10 is essential
- Ability to teach VCE Chinese Units 1/2 is highly desirable
- A strong understanding of contemporary pedagogical practices and language acquisition approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- A commitment to student engagement, wellbeing and growth
- Knowledge of child safe practices, including reporting requirements
- Skilled in providing pastoral care and building strong relationships with young people
