About You

As the Literacy Coordinator (teaching position), you will inspire students through engaging, student-centered teaching within a Catholic learning environment. This position is a 1-point promotional role, temporary for up to 3 years, however your teaching position will be full-time and permanent. The Literacy Coordinator is an expert teacher, skilled in language and literacy analysis to support the learning growth of all students. They also collaborate with the teaching staff to improve the literacy skills of students in all key learning areas with a focus on comprehension and written communication skills. You'll bring:

  • a commitment to the Catholic ethos of the College, the Catholic Church and the wellbeing of all community members
  • knowledge and understanding of contemporary pedagogical practices
  • demonstrated strength as a classroom practitioner
  • ability to design and deliver effective professional learning that aligns with the College’s Annual Improvement Plan and system priorities to improve literacy in all key learning areas
  • ability to analyse data and coordinate effective strategies to improve teaching practice and learning outcomes
  • expertise in assessment design, with a focus on literacy, comprehension and critical thinking
  • experience as an English teacher (desirable)
  • commitment to academic excellence
  • high level interpersonal skills with parents, students and staff to encourage collaboration
  • strong organisational skills to coordinate NAPLAN, National Minimum Standards and PAT testing
  • ability to create inclusive, rigorous learning experiences
  • a tertiary qualification in Education & NESA accreditation.
