Position Information

Northern Beaches Secondary College Cromer Campus (enrolment 1163 students) is a comprehensive co-educational school located on the northern beaches of Sydney. Cromer Campus has recently experienced a substantial increase in student numbers due to a range of successful programs. The school is currently experiencing significant growth in students’ academic achievement and a strong commitment to the PBeL values of respect, responsibility and success.

At NBSC Cromer Campus there is a strong emphasis on quality teaching and high expectations across all areas of school life. Whole school focus areas include Visible Learning and the delivery of quality literacy and numeracy programs. Staff are passionately committed to school improvement due to high levels of teacher collaborative efficacy and the school appreciates strong parental and community support.

Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,

  1. Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills with the proven ability to develop a culture of collaboration and trust, inspiring and enabling all students, staff and community to contribute and achieve to their best.
  2. Experience in leading and mentoring teachers of differing levels of experience.
  3. Demonstrated ability to lead a History faculty (with responsibility for Geography and other humanities courses) and to drive quality teaching, literacy and numeracy initiatives related to the school's strategic improvement plan.
  4. Demonstrated capacity to work as a collaborative member of the school executive team to implement the school’s strategic directions to ensure outstanding learning outcomes for all students, including high performing and gifted students, using data informed deliverance and evaluation of programs and practices.

General Selection Criteria

  1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
  2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
  3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
  4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
  5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
  6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE. The successful applicant will be appointed to Northern Beaches Secondary College and initially based at the Cromer Campus.
