This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 1, 2026
Leda Primary School (PS) was established in 1992 and is in Leda, a suburb of Kwinana, approximately 40 kilometres south of Perth. The school became an Independent Public School (IPS) in 2014, allowing for more autonomy and the establishment of a School Board to represent the community and oversee the Governance of the school. Our school maintains strong links to Leda Education Support Centre which is situated onsite and caters for students with special needs.

The Role
Leda PS are seeking a dedicated Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) to join their diverse team.
The role of the AIEO is to assist teachers with the delivery of planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The successful applicant will act as a liaison between the community and the school to develop education programs relevant to education and cultural needs and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, particularly those at risk, through mentoring and pastoral care to encourage participation and achievement.
The successful applicant should possess good written and oral communication skills, have the ability to work interactively with staff, teachers and parents and good interpersonal skills including the ability to interact on a range of levels. The successful applicant will ideally have good organisational skills to assist teachers in the delivery of effective education programs. In addition, the ability to assist with the general health and well-being of students along with effectively assisting teachers in implementing educational and behavioural management programs is highly regarded.

- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, and liaise with parents/caregivers, families, teachers and community members and assist teachers to understand Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students’ needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of building culturally safe environments for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of culturally responsive education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or allied health professionals.
