As a TAFE Teacher, you will share your knowledge with a diverse range of learners through classroom delivery, online learning, and hands-on workplace training. You will play a key role in helping students build the confidence, capability, and practical skills needed to succeed in their careers.

The Role

A temporary (12 months) full-time opportunity exists to join our Heavy Commercial Industries Educational Delivery team at TAFE Queensland’s Acacia Ridge Campus.

This role includes delivering training to both apprentices and school students (Years 11 and 12) who are taking the first steps into the trade. You will support these young learners by creating an environment that is structured, positive, and engaging. The focus is on guiding them to stay motivated, develop strong work habits, and gain a genuine interest in the trade.

You will also be required to deliver training across your trade area from Stage One to Stage Three apprentices, with the possibility of undertaking workplace assessment where required.

We are seeking someone who can:

This position reports to the Business Manager, David Jenkinson.

Mandatory Requirements

To become a TAFE Queensland teacher you must hold, or be willing to obtain, a qualification in adult education. Primarily this qualification is TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or equivalent

Applicants must possess AUR31120 Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle or equivalent or AUR31220 Cert III in Mobile Plant or equivalent or MEM31419 Cert III in Fixed and Mobile Plant, and the following:

  • current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided;
  • current knowledge and skills in vocational training and learning that informs the training and assessment provided;
  • evidence of undertaking professional development in the fields of the knowledge and practice of vocational training, learning and assessment including competency-based training and assessment;

Please note applicants need not necessarily possess teaching experience, as the right candidate may be trained and developed through coaching, mentoring and partnering. Importance is placed on possession of the appropriate qualifications, industry experience and the right attitude.
