About You
The Pedagogy Coaches will lead a collaborative learning culture that supports teachers and support staff to meet the diverse needs of our students. Working with the Leadership Team, they will build staff capability in content and pedagogy through targeted professional learning, coaching, and feedback. They will analyse student learning to strengthen staff practice and improve student outcomes, guided by the Australian Curriculum and the school's signature pedagogies
As lead learners, the Pedagogy Coaches will form strong relationships across the school community and contribute strategically to the school improvement agenda. Essential experience includes leading school-wide processes grounded in collegial engagement, enacting the Australian Curriculum, and supporting staff to implement Comprehensive Literacy, Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL), and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) for students with complex communication needs
You will have responsibility for:
- Adopt the Leadership team's philosophy of empowering staff and supporting them to achieve, where you encourage self-reflection and use your leadership and mentor skills to enhance the skills of your team to assist in improving student outcomes
- Lead and support a Whole School Approach to Pedagogy, specifically Comprehensive Literacy, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)
- Lead strategies to maximise student achievement and support other school and/or departmental initiatives as required
- Identify teaching and learning needs, barriers and weaknesses by analysing student data, and organising and implementing problem-solving actions with staff
- Facilitate school-based high-quality professional development, working with staff (in teams or individually) to refine their knowledge and skills. Professional development could include, but not be limited to, in-class coaching, observing, modelling of instructional strategies, guiding teachers in looking at student work, developing lesson plans with teachers based on student needs, supporting data analysis, supporting the integration of technology, co-planning with teachers, etc
- Monitor instructional effectiveness and student progress using tools and strategies gained through professional development
- Build and maintain respectful relationships with staff, so that a high level of trust is created and maintained between the teacher/education assistant and the coach
