About this job

Position Information

Hillvue Public School's Support Unit consists of 6 classes catering for students with a range of disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disabilities and Mental Health challenges. 

Each class is supported by a SLSO, with extensive additional support from the Assistant Prinicpal and experienced colleagues. 

The successful teacher will take on the 7th class in the unit which will support mainly students classified as Multi-categorical. 

Your classroom has been newly completed with a sensory room and a break-out room.

Specific Selection Criteria

• Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with Autism.
• Capacity to implement effective classroom management strategies.
• Capacity to plan and implement differentiated teaching and learning programs and promote high expectations for all students.
• Highly developed interpersonal, communication, collaboration and organisational skills to build positive relationships within the school community.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
