School Officer

The Role
Melville PS is seeking a dynamic, organised and customer‑focused individual to join our team as a School Officer. The successful applicant should display a friendly, positive and caring attitude and work collaboratively to promote excellence within our school community.
As a School Officer, you will ideally provide high‑quality customer service and administrative support to the school, working closely with the administration team, teaching staff, students, parents and the broader school community. You will ideally be proactive, adaptable and capable of managing competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment, with strong attention to detail and well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills.
The role includes a broad range of administrative responsibilities such as reception duties, enrolment procedures, processing student attendance, maintaining school databases and management information systems, providing first aid, coordinating and tracking maintenance and repair requests, and supporting the publication of school communications.
The School Officer plays an important role in supporting the smooth financial operation of the school. Under the guidance of the Manager Corporate Services, responsibilities include processing accounts and invoices, GST coding, reconciling financial records, assisting with month‑end procedures, maintaining asset and resource data, completing stocktakes and ensuring data integrity. In addition, the School Officer assists maintaining key registers and supporting school security processes.
Experience with Compass Education, Student Information System (SIS), Resource Management (RM) Billing and RM Finance is highly desirable, along with a willingness to support and learn further phases of Compass implementation. The successful applicant may also assist with the induction and ongoing support of administrative staff, including the development of induction materials and coordination of relief staff.

- Demonstrated ability in using computers and a range of application software packages, particularly databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
- Demonstrated good verbal and written communication skills and experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
