A Religious Education (RE) Teacher plays a vital role in shaping students' moral and ethical understanding while exploring various world religions and belief systems. This role provides an incredible opportunity to make a lasting impact.

Salary Range:$82,796 to $136,848 plus superannuation. Salary is determined based on years of teaching service.  
Eligibility:Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

St John Paul II College (JPC) is a Catholic, co-educational secondary school serving families in the north of Canberra. About the Role

A Religious Education (RE) Teacher plays a vital role in shaping students' moral and ethical understanding while exploring various world religions and belief systems. By creating a classroom environment that encourages open dialogue, critical thinking, and empathy, RE teachers help students develop a deeper understanding of the diverse world around them. They foster respect, tolerance, and self-reflection, encouraging students to ask big questions about life, faith, and personal values. The role requires a deep passion for teaching and the ability to inspire students through engaging lessons that not only educate but also guide them in their own spiritual and moral journeys. Qualifications and Eligibility

  • Bachelor of Teaching or Master in Teaching
  • ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) clearance
  • ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) registration

To teach or lead Religious Education in a Catholic school, you must:

  • Be a practising Catholic connected to a parish or worshipping community
  • Have completed or be due to complete Accreditation D in accordance with the Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Catholic Education, Canberra and Goulburn Policy.
