Your role

The Anzac Memorial, located in Sydney’s Hyde Park South, is the State’s principal war memorial and a heritage-listed landmark of national significance. Opened in 1934, rededicated in 1984, and expanded in 2018, the Memorial now features a permanent exhibition gallery, education spaces, and versatile venue facilities. This unique site blends historical importance with contemporary design, serving as a place of remembrance, learning, and public engagement.

The Memorial is supported by the Office for Veterans’ Affairs within the Department of Justice. Open daily (except Christmas Day and Good Friday) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, it is easily accessible by public transport in the heart of Sydney’s CBD.

Your role

As Property Manager, you will ensure the highest standard of presentation and functionality for NSW’s principal war memorial. This hands-on role involves managing all aspects of facilities and property services for a high-profile heritage site with modern extensions.

What you’ll do

  • Preserve Heritage & Maintain Compliance: Manage programmed and reactive maintenance for a state heritage-listed site, ensuring compliance with conservation standards.
  • Drive Operational Performance: Oversee property and infrastructure service contracts, ensuring suppliers meet KPIs and NSW Government procurement standards.
  • Champion Safety & Security: Lead WHS and security protocols, acting as the primary contact for emergency response outside business hours.
  • Manage Budgets & Resources: Monitor and report on property budgets, ensuring efficient allocation aligned with annual planning.
  • Hands-On Support: Assist with minor maintenance tasks and physical activities, including moving furniture and equipment when required.

Your work will help safeguard a landmark of national significance and ensure a safe, welcoming environment for visitors and staff.

What we’re looking for

  • Ex-service personnel within the Australian Defence Force are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Demonstrated experience managing heritage sites or cultural institutions with public access.
  • Strong skills in contract management, including NSW Government procurement processes, compliance, and governance.
  • Confident in budget management and financial systems (experience with SAP/MWZ is advantageous).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across diverse stakeholders.
  • Thrive in a hands-on role and are committed to heritage preservation and public service.

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience managing a heritage site or cultural institution with public access.
  • Proven ability to manage resources and budgets for public facilities.
  • Experience in the management and delivery of property and infrastructure service contracts.
