Tamworth Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a 14 bed unit (8 ICU, 6 HDU) providing intensive care for patients across the northern half of Hunter New England Health. The intensive care unit is a Level 5 unit equipped to provide complex multi-system life support to critically ill patients including mechanical ventilation, renal replacement therapy, and invasive cardiovascular monitoring. As the new Nurse Unit Manager (NUM), you will be responsible for the clinical leadership and direction of the unit, coordinating patient flow and staff allocation across the ICU on a daily basis.
You won’t be working alone. You will be supported by the Critical Care Nurse Manager and will work closely with the education team, as well at the Deputy Director of Nursing and Director of Nursing. The ICU team are know for its friendly and welcoming environment the team is collaborative and support, and are thrilled to have a new leader come into their fold!
As our new ICU NUM, you will:
- Ideally have ICU leadership and management experience and the ability to coordinate complex patient flow and staffing safely
- Demonstrate strong clinical credibility, decisive leadership and a clear commitment to excellence in patient care.
- Have a track record of maintaining high clinical standards while responding calmly and effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Be an exceptional communicator who can lead multidisciplinary teams, manage resources responsibly, and model professional, culturally respectful behaviours aligned with organisational values.

Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
