We are seeking a Head of Special Education Services for the Townsville West State School (permanent).
In this role, you will lead and coordinate the Special Education Program, providing instructional leadership and coaching to teachers and SEP staff.
You will support students with disability through inclusive, high-quality teaching and targeted interventions, and build strong partnerships with families and external providers to achieve positive, student-centred outcomes.

About the Role
As Head of Special Education Services, your responsibilities include:
- Lead and coordinate the Special Education Program across the school.
- Provide expert advice and coaching to teachers to support inclusive practice and adjustments.
- Lead planning and case management for students with complex learning needs.
- Support and build the capability of SEP staff, including teachers and teacher aides.
- Collaborate with the Student Services team to enhance whole-school inclusive practices.
- Build strong partnerships with families and external agencies.
- Use student data and evidence to monitor and improve support strategies.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
- Experience supporting students with disability and diverse learning needs.
- Strong knowledge of inclusive education and reasonable adjustments.
- Proven ability to lead, collaborate, and communicate effectively.
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a HOSES or similar leadership role.
- Qualifications or training in special education or inclusive practice.
