The Role

As Deputy Principal, the successful applicant will play a key role in providing strong educational leadership that aligns with the school’s values, vision, and strategic direction. They will foster a positive, inclusive school culture and work collaboratively with the leadership team to lead quality teaching, support high accountability, and drive purposeful change focused on growth and improvement. A strong commitment to Aboriginal education and culturally responsive practice will underpin their leadership approach.

The role includes supporting a diverse student population with varying abilities through a firm belief that all students can learn, grow, and succeed. The Deputy Principal will lead workforce effectiveness by motivating and developing staff, using data-informed practice to enhance teaching quality and improve student outcomes, while approaching improvement strategically rather than reactively.

The successful applicant will actively contribute to the School Improvement Plan through participative decision-making, policy development, and the establishment of effective and sustainable systems. They will oversee administrative and operational processes to support the efficient running of the school, ensure compliance with relevant regulations and provide clear feedback and support to staff.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Newton Moore Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
