About the Role

The Credit Officer is responsible for making first contact and initiating the first steps to build relationships with the outstanding fee payers. This includes understanding their financial situation and calculating manageable payment plans whilst continuing to develop and maintain the relationships forged.

The Credit Officer is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to:

  • establishing initial contact with the fee payer and negotiate a payment plan
  • offering assistance in line with the Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) School Fee Policy
  • assessing and following up outstanding documentation required to inform decisions and present recommendations to Credit Controllers for more complex cases or escalated matters
  • managing the Reminder List Report
  • preparing correspondence to debtors in relation to full and partial bursaries/approval/decline and debt recovery letters
  • liaising and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders in relation to matters relating to your allocated geographical location under the guidance of the Supervisor: Credit Control
  • providing support to team members and other system users
  • and all other responsibilities as listed in the job description, or tasks that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

About You

The successful candidate will also possess the following:

  • minimum 3 years’ experience in education administration or debt management
  • demonstrated recent experience in a debt collection environment
  • demonstrated experience in a customer service role
  • demonstrated understanding of debt collection management issues and challenges
  • demonstrated ability to build genuine and productive relationships with stakeholders including debtors
  • demonstrated influencing and negotiation skills for internal and external stakeholders
  • demonstrated ability to maintain accurate and compliant records
  • ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
  • willingness to respect, support, and uphold the mission, ethos, and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of SCS.
