About this job

Position Information

Lismore South Public School is a rural school located in the Northern Rivers of NSW on Bundjalung country. The school caters for students from Preschool to Year 6. The school currently has six K–6 classes and a current student enrolment of 115, including the preschool. Twenty-four percent of students identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. The school values its strong connection with parents and the wider community.

Work is currently underway on the rebuild of Lismore South Public School and the Lismore South Public School Ngulliboo Jarjums Preschool following significant flooding in 2022. Students are currently learning from a temporary school on the sports ground while the permanent facilities are being rebuilt. We anticipate the new facilities will open towards the end of 2026. Both the new build and temporary school site are accessible to people with disabilities.

Lismore South Public School has a combination of highly experienced and early career teachers who are supported through targeted professional learning aligned with new curriculum implementation, explicit teaching, equity and high potential gifted education. There is a focus on delivering excellence in teaching and learning with an emphasis on high expectations, ensuring every student is supported to continuously improve and achieve their best. The school is committed to the delivery of the Broader Bundjalung Language program from P-6.

At Lismore South Public School, staff are focused on creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe, valued and ready to learn. The wellbeing of students and their families is our priority, with all stakeholders working together to support student learning.
