We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Wellbeing Support Officer to join our Wellbeing Team.

About the Role

Working closely with counsellors and wellbeing leaders, this role supports students experiencing emotional distress, assists with triage and referrals, and oversees the calming and regulation space known as ‘The Space’.

While this is not a counselling position, the role plays a critical part in supporting student wellbeing through calm presence, low-level regulation strategies, sound judgement and effective administration.

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming and supporting students presenting to the Wellbeing Hub.
  • Acting as an initial point of contact for wellbeing enquiries from students, families and staff.
  • Assisting with preliminary triage and timely referral to counsellors and relevant leaders.
  • Supervising and maintaining ‘The Space’ to ensure safe and appropriate use.
  • Maintaining accurate records, appointments and documentation.
  • Working collaboratively with counsellors, wellbeing staff and school leaders.
  • Upholding confidentiality, professional boundaries and ethical practice.

About you

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A calm, welcoming and compassionate approach to supporting distressed students.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to assess need and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office and secure record-keeping systems.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse and neurodiverse students.
  • Commitment to the Vision, Mission and values of John Paul College.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Mental Health First Aid or equivalent.
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Training in Trauma Informed Practice and suicide Prevention awareness.
  • Experience in student support, wellbeing services or school based administration.

Position Details:

  • Part-time (working 8.00am to 3.30pm three days per week), ongoing position
  • Commencing as soon as possible
  • Category B, Education Support Employee under the Catholic Education Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2022.
