The Role

West Leeming PS is seeking passionate and highly capable Primary Teachers who are committed to high-quality teaching and learning for every student. Suitable applicants should have strong knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and embed evidence-informed, high-impact teaching strategies in their daily practice. Learning programs may include clear learning intentions and success criteria, explicit instruction and guided practice, and ongoing assessment to inform next steps. Instruction would be purposeful, responsive and aligned to the plan–teach–assess cycle, with differentiated support and challenge, and clear, timely and actionable feedback to students to support progress and deepen learning. Experience teaching in the middle and upper primary years is desirable.

We are seeking educators who ideally foster positive, respectful and trusting relationships with students, colleagues and families. Suitable applicants should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and a belief in the capacity of every student to learn. You should establish a positive, orderly and supportive classroom culture where students feel safe, valued and motivated to learn, and model and reinforce our school values of Care for Self, Care for Others and Care for the Environment. You will ideally contribute to a broader school culture where learning, wellbeing and engagement are at the centre of all decisions.

Collaboration is a key feature of our professional culture. Teachers at West Leeming PS plan together, reflect together and share responsibility for student progress. Suitable applicants would actively participate in collaborative planning, contribute to consistent whole-school approaches and engage in reflective professional dialogue. Our improvement approach ideally includes impact cycles, where teachers inquire into practice, draw on evidence to refine instruction, and participate in peer observation and feedback to continually strengthen teaching and learning.

We value educators who are reflective, open to feedback and committed to continuous growth. Suitable applicants should engage in ongoing professional learning aligned to our School Business Plan priorities and the Teaching for Impact framework. A positive, proactive and relationship-focused approach to behaviour support is highly regarded in fostering a safe, inclusive and high-expectations learning environment.

Experience in teacher leadership roles, such as Impact Coach, curriculum leader or instructional leader, is desirable; however, Teachers with a strong interest in developing leadership capability are also encouraged to apply.
