Malibu School is an Education Support Kindergarten to Year 12 school located in Safety Bay for students with an intellectual and physical disability.

The Role

Our staff deliver personalised programs focused on developing engagement, independence skills for life towards our vision for 'A Future Without Limits'. The successful applicant should display a commitment to our school vision, values and priorities for a meaningful and relevant curriculum, high-quality teaching, a positive learning environment and strong family and community partnerships.

The successful applicant will ideally be willing to teach at all year levels, be ready to collaborate with colleagues and be knowledgeable about a range of disabilities, the impact of disability and the implementation of relevant and achievable learning programs for students working towards greater independence and successful transitions beyond school. Displayed ability and commitment to the plan, act and assess cycle, while building positive relationships with our students, parents, staff, and community members is well regarded.

The successful applicant will ideally be a genuine innovator who display creative planning and instructional flexibility, drawing on knowledge of evidence-based teaching strategies to implement differentiated learning and assessment approaches that further students' development. Teaching and learning content is hands-on and practical to develop skills in communication, literacy, numeracy, personal care, independent living, community access, employability, protective behaviours, social-emotional learning, and transition skills. Competent use of various technologies and experience in explicit teaching and integrated planning will be highly regarded, as is knowledge of strategies to support positive behaviour and regulation. Knowledge about the use of a range of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) modes to enhance effective student communication is highly desired.
