NextSense has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Teacher of the Deaf to join our School Support team at Macquarie Park.

NextSense has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Teacher of the Deaf to join our School Support team at Macquarie Park.

Key role tasks:

• Collaborate, design and implement learning and teaching programs using knowledge of curriculum, assessment/ reporting requirements and implications of sensory loss
• Design and implement teaching activities that support the participation and learning of students with sensory loss and those with additional disability and adjust the teaching environment
• Establish and implement inclusive and positive interactions to engage and support students with sensory loss in meaningful learning experiences
• Create and maintain supportive and safe learning environment and ensure students’ wellbeing and safety within school by implementing school and/ or system, curriculum and legislative requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you'll need to demonstrate you meet the following selection criteria.

• Relevant degree or recognised teaching qualification
• Native/near native Auslan signer, Interpreter level or fluent in Auslan
• Willingness to undertake future studies in a Master of Sensory Disability Education (Provided and paid by NextSense and Macquarie University)
• Excellent written and verbal/signer communication skills, including the capacity to handle sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy
• Excellent teaching practice
• Experience in the education of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
• A working with children’s check
• A criminal record check
• You are obliged to become familiar with, and comply with child protection policies and legislation, as amended from time to time
