Kalamunda Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic and passionate English Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. Application requirements include character limited responses to address only 2 Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) domains at application stage. The remaining AITSL domain will be assessed as part of the further assessment stage, for shortlisted applicants only.

Kalamunda SHS has an enviable reputation developed over 64 years of providing a quality education to all students. The school is proud of its outstanding achievement in the Gifted and Talented Visual Arts program which is complemented by excellence in academic achievement, languages (Italian, Indonesian and Japanese), a specialist program in Outdoor Education and highly regarded Music and school based Performing Arts program.

The Role
Suitable applicants should be innovative and highly motivated educators with the ability to provide quality teaching in the English curriculum area as part of dedicated team. They will ideally have a passion for their curriculum area and a deep understanding of instructional strategies to effectively engage students in the learning process.
They should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ideally be collaborative members of the whole school community, embracing the school’s vision, values and strategic directions.
The school offers a full suite of English courses, including ATAR Literature, along with a Year 7 Learning Team which provides a nurturing environment for students to smoothly transition to high school. Teachers in this team teach both Humanities and English to two Year 7 classes, while also teaching a senior school class in their major curriculum area. Applicants who are interested in teaching in this team are also encouraged to apply as are primary trained teachers and those who have undertaken the secondary Leap program.
