Speech and Language Officer
We are seeking to establish a pool of Speech and Language Officers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The North East Metropolitan Language Development Centre (NEMLDC) is a specialist school for children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). We provide specialist speech, language and academic intervention for children from Kindergarten to Year 2. Further to this, the NEMLDC supports mainstream schools through our Outreach support program and our Speech Pathologists in Schools program.

The Role
We are seeking to create a pool of Speech and Language Officers (with a Speech Pathologist qualification). Initially we are seeking applicants for commencement in January 2026. We encourage experienced speech pathologists as well as students completing their qualification in 2025 to apply. Suitable applicants will be selected from the pool to fill positions at the NEMLDC, which is across 3 sites: West Morley, North Balga and Beechboro Primary Schools.
Speech and Language Officers provide specialised speech and language services within a Response to Intervention model. They provide support to students with speech, language and literacy impairments while assessing, monitoring and reviewing students’ speech and language/literacy development. suitable applicants would prepare and maintain student speech and language/literacy records and reports while communicating student progress to teachers, families and other stakeholders. They will ideally work collaboratively in inter-disciplinary teams to plan and implement educational programs for language/literacy impaired students whilst providing specialist information and advice to teachers, education assistants, parents, and other professionals in the area of speech, language and literacy impairments.
