Senior Consultant - Work Health and Safety

Work Health Safety and Wellbeing are seeking to establish a pool of Senior Consultants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2026 and up to the end of January, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Department’s Work Health, Safety and Wellbeing directorate comprises two branches: Safety and Staff Wellbeing and the Employee Support Services. The directorate is responsible for ensuring compliance with WHS, injury management, workers’ compensation and staff wellbeing functions for the Department, while fostering a proactive safety culture that prioritises the wellbeing of employees. There are full-time, permanent positions available for appointment ASAP.

The Role

This is a unique opportunity to shape and evaluate work health and safety outcomes across a large and diverse organisation. As Senior Consultant, you will lead research and analysis, investigate serious incidents, translate insights into practical solutions, and partner with worksites to embed improvements. You will be a key advisor to staff and leaders, influencing a culture where safety and wellbeing are at the forefront of how we work.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

  • hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field (for example Work Health and Safety, Allied Health, Industrial Relations, Project Management) or equivalent substantial experience.
  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
  • hold a valid ‘C’ class Western Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • undertake travel to metropolitan and regional schools

    2. Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to apply innovative solutions to complex WHS problems in the development and implementation of risk management strategies.
    3. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively in a team environment and contribute effectively to team objectives.
