Business and Customer Services are seeking to establish a Senior Compliance Officer pool for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during 2025 and up to the end of June 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
The following vacancies are available immediately to fill from this process:
- 1 x Permanent Appointment – Payroll
- 1 x Fixed Term Appointment – backfill until 31/12/2026 with possible extension - HR Systems
The Business and Customer Services (BCS) Directorate supports the Education Business Services objectives and provides value for money corporate service outcomes for its customers through skilled and motivated people. The BCS aims to deliver services within an environment of standardised systems and processes. Services are delivered through the areas of payroll, finance, corporate information, business improvement and capability building.
The objective of the Payroll Assurance and Compliance Team is to facilitate the implementation of remedial action arising from the Payroll Compliance Review project, to deliver compliant systems and processes that accord with the industrial instruments. The Payroll Assurance and Compliance Team is identified in the BCS Business Plan as an important element to manage and improve the critical business systems and processes, ensuring high quality data-driven governance and risk management
The Role
If successful, you will use your knowledge, skills and experience of the Human Resources Management Information System (HRMIS) to provide high-level advice, support and information to the Manager Payroll Assurance and Compliance Team to deliver compliant payroll process and the HRMIS functionality solutions. You will be required to contribute to the coordination, ongoing planning, design and development of compliant solutions.
Senior Compliance Officer - Payroll
As a Senior Compliance Officer (Payroll), you will facilitate the delivery of payroll processes and HRMIS functional changes that are compliant with the industrial instruments. You will be a subject matter expert with significant Payroll experience, have attention to detail, an ability to work independently on multiple tasks, and a focus on the continuous improvement of service delivery. You will work in close collaboration with the HR Systems and Labour Relations subject matter experts in the team to develop and implement Payroll resources and remediate identified issues.
Senior Compliance Officer - HR Systems
As the Senior Compliance Officer (HR Systems), you will use your in depth knowledge of the HRMIS to undertake analysis regarding the implementation and resolution of functional and process changes for the HRMIS relating to Payroll Services and provide recommendations. You will work in close collaboration with the Payroll and Labour Relations subject matter experts in the team to develop and progress Requests for Changes to the HRMIS, review design specifications, complete User Acceptance Testing and provide advice on the current configuration of the HRMIS. In addition, you will develop and prepare accurate reports, briefings and ministerial requests relating to the Payroll Assurance and Compliance Team.

- Demonstrated highly developed research, conceptual and analytical skills, including the ability to identify problems and provide innovative solutions to strategic and complex issues.
