Office of the Surveillance Devices Commissioner - DCJ Legal

  • Principal location – Parramatta - Flexible working arrangements maybe negotiated.
  • Employment type – Ongoing – Full time (35 hours)
  • Salary –Clerk Grade 7/8, Base Salary ($113,574 – $125,720), plus employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

Your role

The Project Officer plays a key role in delivering a range of projects within the Office of the Surveillance Devices Commissioner of DCJ Legal. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly organised and proactive individual to contribute to meaningful legal projects, manage competing priorities, and develop skills in project management within a dynamic government environment.

What you’ll do

As part of the Office of the Surveillance Devices Commissioner, you will provide essential project management and support services to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget. You will prepare reports and briefs, coordinate resources, maintain documentation, and liaise with key stakeholders to facilitate project success. You will also undertake research and data analysis to inform project decisions.

You will also:

  • Maintain and update project documentation for monitoring, reporting, and evaluation purposes.
  • Coordinate meetings, working groups, and consultations to support collaboration and information sharing.
  • Track project progress against milestones and provide regular status updates.
  • Source and compile data to identify emerging issues and risks.
  • Support the development and implementation of project plans and strategies.
  • Assist in managing project budgets and resources to ensure efficiency.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the unit’s project management processes.
  • Work as part of a collaborative and supportive team of project professionals dedicated to legal and compliance outcomes.

What we’re looking for

  • Proven experience in project management or support roles, with strong organisational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and coordinate diverse groups.
  • Strong analytical and research skills to support informed decision-making.
  • Capacity to work autonomously, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines.

Appointments are subject to reference checks and the successful applicant will be required to either hold, or be willing to undergo, security vetting to the Protected level.
