The Role
Kent Street SHS is seeking highly motivated, compassionate and innovative Program Coordinators – Student Services to provide exemplary leadership that maximises engagement, wellbeing and success for all students. The successful applicant will ideally possess a strong understanding of adolescent development and student wellbeing, and demonstrate a commitment to supporting students across Years 7 to 12. They will ideally lead with empathy, professionalism and a solutions-focused approach, fostering a culture of high expectations, inclusion and success.
The Program Coordinators – Student Services will work collaboratively with the Executive Team and Student Services staff to provide strategic and operational leadership across the school's student wellbeing and engagement priorities. As a member of the leadership team, they should model the school's values, promote a cohesive and collaborative approach to supporting students, families and staff, and contribute to whole-school improvement through initiatives that enhance student engagement, wellbeing and achievement.
The successful applicants will ideally display a strong understanding of contemporary student wellbeing practices, including Trauma Informed Practice, restorative approaches, case management processes and Students at Educational Risk (SAER) requirements. They will ideally be an effective communicator, capable of building positive relationships and managing complex and sensitive situations with professionalism, compassion and cultural responsiveness.
Working closely with the Student Services team, the Program Coordinators will monitor and respond to student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, engagement and achievement data. A key aspect of the role involves analysing data to identify trends, develop targeted interventions and coordinate supports that improve outcomes for individual students and cohorts. Applicants should exhibit experience in complex case management and a willingness to work across the full secondary school context. Knowledge of senior school progress monitoring, including WACE achievement, OLNA attainment, attendance, retention and pathway tracking, would be highly regarded.
The successful applicants will ideally display sound professional judgement and a strong understanding of Department of Education policies, procedures and legislative requirements relevant to student wellbeing, behaviour, attendance, child protection and Students at Educational Risk. They will ideally promote high standards of case management, documentation and record keeping, ensuring decisions, interventions and communications are accurately recorded and sensitive information is managed appropriately. They should establish clear processes for communication, information sharing, escalation and follow-up, supporting consistent, accountable and coordinated Student Services practice across the school.
The Program Coordinators will ideally be able to prioritise and coordinate complex and competing demands, responding calmly and effectively to emerging student needs, critical incidents and other high-risk or sensitive matters.
The successful applicants will work closely with teachers, Pastoral Care Year Coordinators, families and external agencies to ensure coordinated support for students. They will ideally provide leadership and guidance through modelling restorative practices, facilitating professional dialogue and supporting staff to build positive, respectful relationships with students and families. Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to foster strong partnerships that enhance student engagement and wellbeing are essential.
As a member of the leadership team, the Program Coordinators contribute to whole-school planning, review and improvement processes, and lead strategic initiatives aligned with the school's Business Plan. They support the development of a highly effective Student Services team through coaching, mentoring and performance development, while inspiring and empowering others to contribute to a collaborative and high-performing culture.
