The Role

Ashdale Secondary College (SC) is seeking an innovative and dynamic Head of Learning Area (HoLA) - to lead English Education across the College. The successful applicant will ideally possess outstanding leadership, organisation and interpersonal skills, whilst modelling a positive approach to student learning.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to join an innovative leadership team dedicated to designing and developing a distinctive, world class educational environment. Ashdale SC’s Teaching and Learning Framework underpins the high-quality teaching and learning that takes place at the College. The successful applicant will ideally reflect and assess the effectiveness of the Learning Area teaching practices, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. With effective interpersonal skills, the desired applicant will work closely with students, colleagues and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. The HoLA has an integral role in modelling their exemplary practice and building the capacity of their team to ensure high standards for all.

The English Learning Area is a high functioning learning area with a team of committed and dedicated teachers, delivering a range of innovative teaching and learning programs from Year 7 through to Senior School courses. The successful applicant will ideally be able to lead the delivery of quality teaching, learning and assessment programs and, in addition, will deliver the Western Australian Curriculum and Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Courses.

• obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
• consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
