The Role
Geraldton SHS is seeking a Program Coordinator – Literacy and Numeracy Specialist who leads whole school literacy and numeracy strategies and intervention programs, Years 7 to 12 aimed at improving literacy and numeracy outcomes for all students.
This role leads the implementation of the school’s literacy and numeracy plans, ensuring programs are delivered effectively, aligned with WA Curriculum standards, and that data is accurately collected and analysed to inform teaching and student progress.
Working collaboratively with the Principal, Deputy Principals, Program Coordinators of Learning Areas and Student Services, and teaching staff, you will provide educational leadership by promoting the school’s vision for academic success and encouraging a shared commitment to continuous improvement. You will contribute to school planning and policy development through participative decision-making and lead change initiatives that enhance teaching quality and student outcomes in literacy and numeracy. This includes managing the school timetable, general program administration, and supporting workforce development within the school community.
The ideal candidate would ideally have experience in high-level data literacy, expertise in diagnostic assessment and intervention programs, and strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships across the school.
Experience in curriculum development, Special Education Needs planning, and the ability to engage effectively in collegiate planning and coaching teachers to embed literacy and numeracy strategies in classrooms is highly desirable.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Geraldton Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
