The Role
Hillman PS is seeking an energetic and highly engaging Specialist Science Teacher to join our collaborative team, whose love of science inspires students. They will ideally possess extensive science knowledge and experience.
The successful applicant will have the exciting opportunity to maintain and extend a high quality and contemporary science program for students across our school. They will support teachers in integrating science-based learning into their teaching programs and coordinate regular science experiences, including incursions and excursions to enrich the learning program.
Our vision for teaching and learning, which guides our instructional approach, focuses on teachers having high expectations, being collaborative and student-focused, using evidence-based approaches and developing supportive learning environments. The successful applicant should be committed to putting students first in your decision making and undertaking the hard work that is inherent in adhering to whole school approaches.
We are currently working on embedding our whole school instructional framework, which is aligned to the Department of Education Quality Teaching Framework and Teaching for Impact. Strong instructional knowledge, connected to these systemic priorities, will be highly desirable.
Delivering an orderly learning environment, through a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework will be important to the role. Our matrix encourages children to achieve our core values of “Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Relationships”. The successful applicant is encouraged to display how they manage students with challenging behaviours in ways that preserve the integrity of the child. Our students are supported in their social and emotional wellbeing using evidence-based approaches, including the Zones of Regulation program. The successful applicant should be culturally responsive, and possess the ability to cater for students with additional needs and have understanding and experience in Students At Educational Risk (SAER)
