Lake Illawarra South Public School is situated on the shores of Lake Illawarra, in the Shellharbour Local Government Area.

The school's current enrolment is 186 students, with 17% identifying as having an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander background. This year, a Multicategorical class (MC) has been established, and a preschool is currently under construction to accommodate a 2-unit setting in 2027, as part of the 100 Public Preschools initiative. 1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs
3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Specific Selection Criteria

In addition to the general selection criteria:

1. Approval to teach, with proven capacity to establish effective management practices and processes that ensure efficient, accountable and responsive school operations.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding to lead the establishment and operation of the co-located preschool.
3. Highly visible and approachable leadership style that fosters a positive school culture by building effective relationships with staff, students, parents, and the broader community, ensuring fairness, inclusivity, and open communication.
4. Proven capacity to unite all members of the school's community toward a shared vision to deliver equity for excellence.

Classification Structure for Principals: The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation.
