About the Role
The Network Diverse Learning Officer focuses on coordinating a system of support to improve outcomes for students K-12 with diverse learning needs across Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) school networks.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- ensuring all NCCD processes are central to the work of the team and are seen as integral informants to all planning, implementation, consultation and review processes
- offering expert advice to Principals and teachers in crafting targeted adjustments to support students with disability to engage in learning, achieve learning gain and functional independence
- leading the planning and implementation of Teacher and Learning Support Officer capacity-building strategies and evaluating the impact of such initiatives
- facilitating the delivery of blended professional learning modules across the breadth of disability
- contributing to a contemporary approach to diverse learning needs support across SCS, utilising a range of assistive technologies
- participating in team professional development focused on NESA syllabus requirements K-12 and contributing to skilling team members to respond to a range of disability needs across cognitive, sensory, physical, social and emotional disability
- contributing to a pedagogical design framework built on a neuroscientific platform, inclusive of research-informed educational theories, based on K-12 curriculum and
- incorporating contemporary instructional and assessment strategies
- expanding students' educational opportunities and functional independence K-12
- supporting Principals, school leaders and teachers in understanding statistical analysis utilising school and network performance data, demographics, and other key information to prepare reports on student outcomes.
About You
To be successful in this position, you must possess:
- a university Degree in Education or Teaching
- a minimum of five years of teaching experience in a school
- a NESA recognised teaching qualification
- the ability to demonstrate practice equivalent to Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
- experience in leading staff in professional learning
- demonstrated success in improving student outcomes and implementing school-wide initiatives
- experience in using data analysis to inform educational decisions
- the ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts
- a current driver's licence and access to a car
- demonstrated high-level written, oral and presentation skills
- demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
- willingness to respect, support, and uphold the mission, ethos, and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of SCS.
Desirable:
- a willingness to teach in our Specialist Support classes
- postgraduate degree in Inclusive Education or another relevant discipline
- three years middle leadership experience in a school
- knowledge of the Catholic Systemic Schools/Systems.
