Job Description
FTE: Part Time (Full Time negotiated)
Salary: Competitive remuneration based on qualifications and experience
Adass Israel School Boys’ Campus is seeking qualified school teachers or near graduates who can teach English, Humanities, Jewish Studies, LOTE (Yiddish and/or Classical Hebrew), The Arts (CLIL) Yiddish, Humanities (CLIL) Yiddish subjects to Years 5 to 10 boys. In this role, you will work with a welcoming and supportive team to teach the Australian Curriculum to Middle School students.
Key requirements:
- V.I.T. registration or current enrolment in a teaching Qualification and a willingness to apply for a Permission to Teach
- Interpersonal skills appropriate to teaching Secondary students
- Effective communication skills to liaise with students, parents and staff
- A commitment to child safety, well-being and protection
Duties include:
- Monitor, assess and report on student progress
- Work with existing curriculum materials and prepare additional curriculum materials if required
- Maintain a duty of care. This includes issues of discipline, students' safety, well-being and protection and WHS
- Be involved in the pastoral care and counselling of students in conjunction with other appropriate professionals
- Implement (from time to time) extra-curricular activities, extra periods, yard duties, sports duties, school camping activities, supplementary courses, exam duties
- Plan and present learning experiences that are student centred and outcomes focussed
- Competent in Yiddish and/or Classical Hebrew
- An understanding and sensitivity to the religious and cultural values of the Adass Israel community
- English language skill at a level appropriate for communication with staff, parents and students
- Experience and interpersonal skills appropriate to teaching
- A commitment to child safety, well-being and protection
- Knowledge and experience in OH&S
- Other duties as required by your Supervisor
