Rosebank College has a proud and varied history of over 150 years as part of the Good Samaritan family established in 1857, and belonging to the Benedictine spiritual and educational tradition founded by St Benedict in the 4th century. The College belongs to the community of ten schools across Australia called Good Samaritan Education (GSE). Established in 2011 by the Sisters of the Good Samaritan, the mission of Good Samaritan Education is to sustain and nurture our Catholic schools as Good Samaritan Benedictine communities of learning.

About the Role

A school of Good Samaritan Education, Rosebank College seeks expressions of interest for the position of History (Studies) Coordinator/Teacher to lead the History Department in this permanent full-time (1.0FTE) position, commencing from the start of Term 1, 2027.

This middle leadership position attracts a (2) two-point allowance. This role will work collaboratively with the Dean of Learning, Assistant Deans of Learning, the Dean of Professional Learning and Culture, and History faculty members, and across all year groups, undertaking responsibilities within the team as required by the Dean of Learning. The History faculty is highly successful and fosters a culture of continuous improvement, committed to student-centred practice.

Applicants for this position must be highly effective leaders, excellent classroom practitioners, dedicated team players, interested in the care and welfare of students, and have particular skills in their teaching of History to equip them to contribute to the College’s educational program in teaching and learning. Applicants will also need to be skilled in their use of educational technology in the classroom. This position will allow a creative and passionate teacher and their students to flourish.

All staff are required to be involved in the pastoral care of our students and need to be able to demonstrate a commitment to the ideals and ethos of Catholic Education and be willing to participate in extracurricular programs.

About You

The successful candidate will be an outstanding educator who is highly motivated to support Rosebank College to ensure continued academic achievement by inspiring and developing innovative learning which engages, and values every learner. To be considered for this position, you must meet the following criteria:

• Proven experience as a highly effective, innovative, and motivated educator across all stages of the History curriculum (Stages 4, 5, and 6), with the capacity to liaise with and contribute to Stage 3 upon its introduction in 2027.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, with a strong focus on driving student learning, engagement, and academic growth.
• A commitment to contributing to the College’s learning culture through active participation in the Curriculum Leadership Team (CLT).
• Proven ability to effectively prepare the faculty budget, manage the resources of the History learning department.
• Proven capacity to lead and develop a dynamic team.
• Demonstrated success in driving achievement and growth in the HSC.
• Proven ability to foster a collaborative, research, and data-driven approach to excellence in teaching and learning.
• A commitment to academic excellence and demonstrated knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practices that encourage academic excellence.
• Knowledge and understanding of the current History curriculum and NESA requirements.
• Ability to successfully integrate technology into everyday learning and planning,
• Interpersonal skills with parents, students, and staff.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative team.
• Possess a valid and current Working with Children Check.
• A commitment to the child safeguarding principles.
• Willingness to support the Catholic ethos and learning culture of the College.
• Current NESA Accreditation and approval to teach in NSW.
• Support the College’s Pastoral Program, including being responsible for a Home Room.
